On this tour, we will visit one of the major references of Marian devotion, the Sanctuary of
Fátima. The location of the Sanctuary of Fátima, Cova da Iria, was an unknown place in the
municipality of Ourém until 1917. A religious event came to change the history and
importance of this place: three shepherd children, Jacinta, her brother Francisco, and their
cousin Lúcia, witnessed successive apparitions of Our Lady of Fátima. At the Sanctuary of
Fátima, we will visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Fátima, which houses the tombs of Lúcia,

Francisco, and Jacinta. We’ll explore the heart of the Sanctuary, the Chapel of the
Apparitions, and the site where Our Lady of Fátima spoke to the three shepherds, as well as
the Basilica of the Holy Trinity. You will also have the opportunity to attend a mass.

We will then proceed to the visit of Valinhos, an emblematic place for the believers of the
Fátima apparitions. According to the accounts of the Fátima visionaries, it was here that the
Angel appeared in 1916, and Our Lady appeared on August 19, 1917. We will explore points
of interest such as the houses of the three shepherds, Loca do Cabeço (a place of worship
and prayer), where the first and third apparitions of the Angel to the Fátima visionaries took
place, and Poço do Arneiro, a well at the bottom of Lúcia’s backyard where the second
apparition of the Angel occurred.

You will also have time for shopping for religious articles for yourself and your family and
friends.
